Breezeway

This is a bright and uplifting calypso at a medium tempo, perfect for a more experienced band or to challenge a beginner group. The low pan soli provides an excellent opportunity for double seconds, cellos, and basses to be featured. There is an optional solo vamp which can be observed or easily skipped altogether. Breezeway was written during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when things were bleak. Just as a breezeway is constructed to provide relief, the act of composing this tune was a form of stress relief for myself during these dismal times. Standard calypso patterns from the engine room instruments (brake drum, congas, shaker, scratcher, cowbell, etc.) are a welcomed and crucial addition to the energy of Breezeway!
